The AFINIA H-Series 3D Printer provides a true “Out of the Box 3D Printing Experience” as the 3D Printer comes fully assembled with easy to install software for both the PC and Mac. The AFINIA H-Series 3D Printer can prototype a part or model that is up to 5 inches cubed in dimensions. The output is accurate to within .15mm (6 thousandths of an inch), and has 30% of the strength of injection molded parts.

The 3D Software features an easy-to-use interface for laying out, orienting, duplicating, and scaling parts. Simply use the included utility to calibrate the printhead height, and within minutes you are printing. It easily imports STL files, and the output can be customized in terms of the amount of support material and “raft” (base support) printed. Breakaway support material is simple to remove, and tools for aiding the breakaway are included. Design files for 3D printing can be created using online software, professional software such as Autodesk Inventor, or by downloading from the extensive online 3D printer community for free.

The AFINIA H-Series 3D printer uses inexpensive, high-quality plastic filament for 3D printing. Afinia offers an array of plastic filament colors including: natural, black, red, blue, yellow and green.

The portable AFINIA H-Series 3D Printer is just under 11 lbs making it easy to transport. It can also be operated in standalone mode. Once the file is downloaded to the device, the USB connection between the 3D printer and computer can be disconnected – even while printing.

Overview of the New Afinia H480

The new H4802 is a fantastic desktop 3D printer, winning the Make Magazine "Best Overall Experience" in their Ultimate Guide to 3D Printing.  The Afinia took top honors when compared to Makerbot, 3D Systems and 12 other 3D printer manufacturers.  The Afinia H480 is an excellent system for engineers, educators and hi-tech hobbyists.

Here are just a few of the bulletpoints that make the product so appealing:

  • High printing quality with up to 0.15mm layer thickness
  • Five inch cubic build envelope for printing various-size models
  • Easy-to-use software for Mac or PC allows for size scaling, multiple copies, fixing of models
  • Auto-generated support material to ensure stable printing of arcs and overhangs
  • Fully heated build platform to prevent against model warping during printing
  • Auto-Leveling Platform - NEW
  • Nozzle Height Detection - NEW
  • Fully Assembled out of the box - As Always!

About the New Features

Automatic Leveling

The auto-leveling feature is used to compensate for a warped or uneven print surface. It is not designed to take the place of manually leveling the print platform. The Platform Calibration Probe attaches magnetically to the extruder head and connects to the printer via a data cable. The probe measures the height of the build platform at nine different points, and takes a little over 2 minutes to complete the calibration.

Nozzle Height Detection

The nozzle detection feature measures the nozzle height to ensure that it is the correct distance from the printing surface prior to printing. This process takes about 20 seconds to complete. Using the nozzle height detection feature is more accurate than setting the nozzle height manually; and helps models adhere securely to print surface during printing.

Afinia for Educators

It’s clear that 3D Printing holds, and will continue to hold, an important place in education. The question is, how does one decide which printer to use to support a given curriculum?

Some things to consider:

  • How easy is the 3D printer to set up and use?
  • How many students can use it at one time?
  • How do I get help if things don’t go as planned?
  • What kind of a warranty guarantee comes along with the printer?

The Afinia Desktop 3D Printer is a logical choice:

Make Magazine selected it as “Best Overall Experience,” “Easiest To Set Up,” and “Easiest To Use” in their most recent review of 15 3D printers. Some printers cost in excess of $30,000 and can only print a few students’ projects at one time. For that investment, you can get 18 Afinia printers and everything you need to get started quickly.  The Afinia Desktop 3D Printer was voted ‘Educator’s Choice‘ at MakerFaire NY 2013.  Teachers appreciate Afinia’s friendly and knowledgeable telephone support.
Afinia has the industry leading 1 year warranty, with an option to purchase an extended warranty.
